While browsing through my digital photos, I found a few that I would like to share with you guys.

This was taken at the lake behind my house. I like to sit and listen to the silence of being alone outside. I have always loved looking at the sky and the ever-changing clouds. This was actually the reflection in the lake. Shooting the water gave the sky and trees a dreamy quality. This photo was not altered in any way. I love how moody and stormy the sky looks.

I really like how this photo turned out. This is the Tallahatchie River bridge and train trestle on Hwy 7 between Holly Springs and Oxford, Mississippi. My husband and I stopped on the side of the road and we took a trail down to the river's edge, where I positioned myself right between the two bridges. It was a stormy day that day, too. Since it was so overcast, the original photo was dark with little contrast. I tweaked the photo to brighten it up a bit and add some color. Is Photoshopping cheating? I don't think so. It makes interesting pictures out of ordinary ones.

This is one of my all-time favorites. Two years ago, my sister and I took a trip to Palm Springs, Ca. I took a short day trip to the Joshua Tree National Park. It is so scenic there, no shot is a bad shot. This was a beautiful photo on its own, but I wanted to turn it into one of those old-fashioned Technicolor postcards. That was definitely a trip I'll always remember.

This is a card I recently made for my brother-in-law's birthday. The truck stamp and sentiment is from Artistic Outpost. The barbwire stamp is from Ink by Steph. With a lot of menfolk in my family, I love making cards for them, but I find it difficult making them masculine enough. I love butterflies and flowers but they are not appropriate for 'man' cards! I like the way this one turned out--- I like the simplicity.

Ok. I know I've been a slacker for the past......... eight months!?!? A lot has been going on in my life. My 21-year old nephew died in March, so that has taken a toll on the ole creativity. I have done projects, but it seems to take a lot of effort to take the time to get things uploaded. Maybe now, I can keep up with my blog a little better. It's like a little flower... it should be tended and cultivated. Also, I told a friend the other day that I had a blog, so I figured I'd better get some things on here for her to look at! This was a tag I made for my recent stamp club meeting.
The stamps are from Oxford Impressions. The image is clear-embossed over an old book page, then covered with Ranger Distress Ink in black soot. A little trick I learned while doing this project was to use a gesso wash on the back first to keep the type from bleeding through from the other side. So cool! I burned the edges of the tag first to make it look even more spooky.
